The Tribeca Film Festival takes off next Thursday April 21st with nearly 100 films ranging from documentaries to dramas. While the festival offers everything a movie buff could ever dream of, I’ve compiled a few noteworthy tidbits.
First, for those of you who don’t live in NYC, the festival has select films and shorts that can be viewed online via live stream. Virtual audiences even have the opportunity to vote on the best online feature to receive cash prizes at the TFF Awards show. Now you can be a part of the excitement of the festival from the comfort of your own home!
Also, audiences can enjoy a night of cinema under the stars at the World Financial Center Plaza where several films will be shown for the Tribeca Drive-In events. Films start at dusk and include interactive pre-show activities. The best part? It’s free.
And finally, Malin Akerman who hosted the event for our “7 Fresh Faces in Film” Award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, stars in the film The Bang Bang Club alongside Ryan Phillippe and Taylor Kitsch. Based on a true story, the film follows the lives of four photographers who tell the story of post-Apartheid South Africa through their art. Can’t wait to check it out!
